Diane Farrell Mauch presents a lecture on the immensely popular opera La Traviata by composer Giuseppe Verdi, based on “La dame aux Camellias” (1852) adapted from the novel by Alexandre Dumas, fils. The title La traviata means literally “The Fallen Woman.” Mauch is the president of the Opera/Ballet Club and her credentials include a varied career in opera, concert and musical theater. She taught voice and opera theater for many years, most recently at the University of Miami in Coral Gables. Mauch has written extensively on vocal technique and vocal literature and currently presents lectures on all aspects of opera in the Bay Area.
