Broadway's Musicals as Social Documents with Jonathan Bailey

Show Details

Jonathan Bailey, a Rossmoor resident and professor at the Fromm Institute for Lifelong Learning, leads viewers through a tour of Broadway's musicals to explore how we can see them not only as "vehicles of transient pleasure, but as social documents that tell us who we were and who we are." Bailey begins in 1927 with the musical "Show Boat" and runs all the way up to more modern-day productions such as "The Book of Mormon" and "Hamilton". (2021)
