The Big Band of Rossmoor

Show Details

The 46-member Big Band of Rossmoor plays its usual great array of dance tunes at their "Winter Show and Dance" (2024). The Big Band started out as the Rossmoor Fun Band in 1991. Mo Levich was recruited in 1996 and leveraged his contacts with local musicians and educators to create the dynamic one-of-a-kind intergenerational group that it is – wrapped with the Generations in Jazz Foundation since 1996. Today, the band’s members range in age from 14 to 86 and consist of Rossmoor residents and students from local high schools. The band’s 140-page repertoire consists mainly of ’40s and ’50s big band swing and the American songbook. Under the direction of educational consultant Greg Brown, Latin pieces are also in the repertoire. Levich and Brown share directing duties during the concert and several members of the band play solos.
