Ken Jonah delivers a presentation on scams targeting seniors and how Rossmoor residents can avoid being "scammed" (a fraudulent act or operation of someone making money by tricking people). Jonah was Fresno Police Department's Volunteer of the Year in 2019 and won the Fresno Red Cross Volunteer of the Year award in 2022. He served as the Danville police commissioner for 12 years and volunteered with the Fresno Police Department for 9 years. He is a regional trainer for "Be Red Cross Ready," which provides comprehensive disaster-preparedness presentations on earthquakes, home fires, wildfires and floods. Jonah is an expert on senior scams involving finance, romance, grandparenting, lottery and sweepstakes, Medicare, computer and prescription drugs. The Rossmoor EPO advises residents to contact local law enforcement if they suspect they are the victim of fraud or if they feel in any way threatened by contact with a suspected scammer. (2024)
