Rossmoor’s End of Life Concerns Club hosts this informative program on burial options, cremation options, and alternative post-life choices to help remind viewers that they have autonomy in how they plan for death.
Bari Hendershot, funeral director at Diablo Valley Cremation, will discuss her work in the funeral business, including traditional burial and cremation options, along with the typical costs associated with each. Hendershot has worked in the field since 2007 and is a well-known resource for local hospices and care facilities, which frequently invite her to speak about what to expect when a death occurs and how to prepare for it.
Chris Sharpless, manager of the online service Smart Cremation, will present his company’s more affordable alternative to traditional funeral homes and share insights from his many years of experience, for which he is known for his compassionate and thoughtful approach.
The third presenter is Jim Greenberg, MD, retired pediatric anesthesiologist and president of Rossmoor’s End of Life Concerns Club, who will speak about green burial and body composting, which he feels offer the most natural way to return to the earth. Greenberg will describe green burial practices as well as body composting, an eco-friendly option that uses principles similar to garden composting to care for the body after death. (2025)
